How to easily achieve a sexy Cleanstone edge using a blowtorch

To my designer and joiner mates out there, there's another pro tip #2 on working with Critical. Cleanstone. This is how you can easily achieve a glossy and finished edge without sanding:

1. First up, you only need to do this with Cleanstone made using predominately recycled soft plastics. Harder plastics cuts really nice on the CNC machine - all it needs is a finishing pass!

2. Wear a face mask with a spray paint level filter. Scrape away excess swarf from the edge of the cut face with a craft knife. Remember to collect and bag recycled plastic swarf and return it to us so we can use it to make new Cleanstone.

3. Remove the sharp edge with a deburring tool or a router at the appropriate finish or radius as per your finished design.

3. Using a butane torch set it to medium flame. Hold the top of the torch approximately 300mm away from the part and quickly pass the exposed edge 2-3 few times. Remember 'we're searing not roasting' panel. Try not to overheat the panel as that will cause the sheet to soften and flex.

And there you have it whānau! That's pretty much it. Easy as.
