Here's how you can press form dinner trays using Critical.'s 100% recycled plastic panels called Cleanstone.
Cleanstone, is an incredibly versatile material that you can easily shape into a variety of 3D shapes.
Luka from Acryform takes us through press forming step by step:
1. Machine a male and female mould. Acryform made a press mould using their Acrylic offcuts - how cool is that?
2. Heat up Cleanstone in a large industrial oven to soften the panel into a formable temperature.
3. Move the softened Cleanstone onto the base of the mould and lower the top of the mould onto the surface and squeeze.
4. Keep clamped until the Cleanstone cools and re-hardens.
And that's it. Designers can create incredible intricate and detailed shapes this way. You can use this method to create compound or double curves also. You can create larger parts by simply machining large male and female moulds to squeeze Cleanstone with.
Hope this helps e te whānau. We have even more cool tips and tricks to show you in the coming weeks so stay tuned.
