I used to work as an architect. Back then, we’d spec materials that looked great in renders… but deep down, we knew most of it would end up in landfill within 5–7 years.
MDF, laminate, cheap sheet goods — all of it peeling, swelling, and getting replaced before the lease even ended.
Fast forward a few years — I’m now the founder of Critical., and our recycled plastic panels - Cleanstone is now in over hundreds of projects across Aotearoa and Australia.
We’ve worked with schools, retailers, commercial designers, joiners, and even councils.
And now… I'm ready to see Cleanstone in Bunnings - to make it even more accessible.
Not because it’s sustainable — though it is.
But because it makes business sense.
Millennials and Gen Z are already walking through your stores.
They're not looking for the cheapest product. They're looking for a better one.
One that won’t fall apart. One that won’t end up in the skip in a few years.
One that they’re proud to install — whether it’s in their home, a school, or a new retail space.
Cleanstone is made from 100% recycled plastic.
It cuts almost timber, lasts like stone, and is made right here in Aotearoa.
We already supply major fit-outs, retailers, and design-led projects across both sides of the ditch.
The demand is there.
We’re already proving it in the market.
This isn’t a “maybe one day” material.
It’s on the walls of your favourite retail stores. In labs. In early childhood centres. Schools. Retail counters and homes.
So if I was the category manager at Bunnings?
I’d get Cleanstone on the shelf before someone else does.
Because this is about capturing the shift in what builders, designers and DIYers are already looking for:
Materials with story.
Products with purpose.
And surfaces that last.
You’re already known for community BBQs, trusted advice, and DIY leadership.
Adding Cleanstone would just make it easier for the next generation of builders to build better — and for Bunnings to win their trust (and spend).
