A celebration of Māori culture and circular economy in this South Auckland school fit out.
Manurewa High School have now completed the fit out of their reception space with the unveiling of a new centrepiece carving framed by Critical. Cleanstone completing the school's whakapapa story ... and I couldn't be more proud of this masterpiece fit out!

The waka, appropriately named 'Ngaa Waka'. Designed and carved by Uenuku Hawira, it is made to reflect:

a. The history of the flotilla on the Manukau Harbour and

b. welcoming the canoes of the world in which the students derive from.

The reception wall represent the two maunga in Manurewa - Matukutūreia and Matukutūruru using Cleanstone made from recycled plastic fishing nets and recycled construction tubing. Below the waka a combination of milk bottle plastics and recycled blue plastics represents the Puhinui river.

The resultant space represent the school's identity.

Pete Jones I'm so proud of what you fullas have achieved. Uenuku Hawira you are a legend bro.

This fit out gives me the shivers - a celebration of Te Ao Māori, Manurewa Highschool's identity and values and a future of caring of our whenua.

No words, just that ... wowee...
