This project almost didn’t happen. WATCH VIDEO

Not because the vision wasn’t strong enough.

Because doing something new always asks more of everyone involved.

For this project, we were trying to vacuum form a 3mm Cleanstone panel made from 100% recycled soft plastics into big, soft compound curves for Moustache Cookies — in this unique way.

And that’s really the point.

Innovation doesn’t usually arrive in a straight line. It takes testing, adjusting, backing each other, not being afraid when things feel like they are going wrong, and staying in the process long enough to find the answer.

That’s what I respect so much about this project and the people behind it.

Deanna, the founder at her viral cookie company Moustache Cookies - is an incredible founder with a bold vision for her business.

The Designer - Miguel Machado at Atelier Lal pushed the design further than most people would.

Nick Turpin from Dimension Shopfitters (2004) Ltd worked through the fabrication challenges with ingenuity and persistence.

That’s the kind of project we love being part of. The kind where the brief asks something new from the material.

The kind where design leads. The kind with great people don’t pull back at the first sign of complexity.

So we kept going.

Ran more tests.
Refined the vacuum forming settings.
Adjusted the process.
Worked closely with the vacuum formers.
And slowly, the result started to emerge.

Then the curves started landing the way they needed to.

And the whole thing came together.

What you’re looking at here is what can happen when good people back a brave idea and work through the hard bit together.
