Tradition Meets Innovation: Carved Hei Tiki Showcases Beauty of Cleanstone

Check this beautiful little colab between Critical. and matua Raymond Otene McKay, founder of RUN Aotearoa.

Carved by the talented artist Tutuu using traditional techniques, this Hei Tiki was shaped and polished by hand using Critical.'s Forest Cleanstone (https://criticaldesign.nz/collections/all), which is made using 100% hard to recycle commercial fishing nets and soft plastics.

Too often recycling is associated with downcycling, which means products made from recycled plastics often result in lower quality and value than the original plastic products. But it doesn't have to be this way and Critical. Cleanstone is changing this.

With 11% of global carbon emissions coming building materials and plastics being a significant contributor to landfill by volume, collaborations like this demonstrates just how versatile, beautiful and valuable recycling and circularity can be!

I run a green building materials company called Critical. and we help designers create beautiful spaces that make our grandchildren proud. If your working on a fit out project in need to low carbon and zero waste materials, hit me up!
